The Right 10″ HMI for Projects That Just Need to Work
Not every machine needs cloud storage or a built-in VPN. Some just need a clear, responsive 10″ touchscreen that operators can read from across the panel, programmed reliably to show the right data and respond to the right inputs. That’s exactly what the WECON PI Series 10″ basic HMI is built for — a straightforward interface device with the processing muscle and protocol support to handle real industrial applications, priced for projects where the budget matters.
Three variants — start simple, add what you need:
The entry-level model connects via a single COM port (RS485) only — ideal for standalone machine installations where Ethernet isn’t required and you just need the HMI talking to the PLC over serial. Step up to the middle variant and you gain dual RS485 plus an Ethernet port, which opens up MODBUS TCP, network-based programming uploads, and integration with plant systems. The top variant adds remote control capability on top of that — handy if your team occasionally needs to check or adjust machine parameters from a phone or laptop without a full cloud subscription. All three run the same Cortex A35 1.2GHz processor and 1024×600 display.
Talks to the PLC brands you already use:
MODBUS RTU and TCP are supported as master or slave. Beyond MODBUS, native driver support covers Siemens, Mitsubishi, Schneider, Omron, Allen Bradley, and more. If you’re building a new machine or replacing an aging HMI on existing equipment, this screen will communicate with whatever controller is in the cabinet.
More capable than the name suggests:
“Basic” refers to the connectivity tier, not the HMI engine. Like the rest of the ig Series, this screen supports LUA and VB-style scripting for advanced display logic, recipe management, and calculated values. MQTT and HTTPS data logging via script is also available if you want to push machine data to an external system without upgrading to a cloud-enabled model. Email alarm notifications and automatic time sync are standard.

PI Studio IDE is free to download and includes sample projects and a beginner tutorial package to get you started. Programming tutorials and how-to guides are available on the JOFAS website, and programming assistance is available at a fee if you need help getting your project off the ground.
